...Someone you know? [ Not that he can't picture that exact mannequin snapping necks, but the rest of her allusion was very specific. ] Or are gun manufacturers celebrities where you're from?
[ It's not exactly what they're here for, but he also can't not poke through some of the odds and ends on display near the entrance, picking up a sort of beret-esque thing with a bow and some netting attached. It's so small it looks more like a hair accessory, and he gives it a bewildered look as he turns it over in his hands. ]

[ She turns to look at what Steve is fiddling with, catching a look at the thing in his hands. ]
Er. Is that supposed to be a hat?
no subject
Where else would it go? [ Now, he won't be trying any of these on, even as a joke. He has meticulously styled waves to preserve, so he holds it just slightly above his head instead, guessing (incorrectly) at how and where it's supposed to sit. ]
I guess it's good for people who have luscious hair they don't want to cover up.
no subject
It suits you. Though we may have a difficult time finding an outfit that matches.- oh!
[ What's caught Angel's attention is an area labeled "Spring Fling!" full of dresses and outfits ready for the upcomming season. Maybe she's never been shopping like this, but Angel is plenty familiar with how marketing cycles work. A smart business would stay two seasons ahead, maybe even a whole year, and it meant whatever was over there would be the latest fashion. ]

[ The contrast between Miss Murder and what lines the racks in this section is stark. ]
So, now what you're going to want to do is grab up anything that catches your eye, and I'll help you carry it all to the changing room.
[ He puts his arms out, emphasizing how prepared he is to do just that. He intends to offer her some help choosing. Eventually. But, for now that can wait. First party, first shopping trip, first time running a one person fashion show with half of a store's inventory, almost all of which you don't intend to purchase.
These are all milestones that should be experienced. ]
no subject
She makes to head over to the section before pausing, turning back to Steve with his arms still out and waiting. ]
Aren't we shopping for you too?
no subject
No worries, I can multi-task.
[ He doesn't have as much saved up as he'd hoped. He'll peruse, definitely, but there's a hefty chance he'll have to swing back by later to actually purchase whatever he singles out. Nonetheless, Steve dons a convincing smile, which isn't hard when he has plenty of other reasons to be glad.
One's right in front of him, at the risk of sounding cheesy. ]
If you thought those magazines were great for your studies, the mirror in here is gonna blow your mind.
[ Nothing beats not having to use your imagination ! ]

[ Said dry, with an exaggerated eyeroll for emphasis as she begins flipping through dresses on one of the racks. ]
I may have not had the ability to get out much, but I still had plenty of access to the world second hand through a network.
no subject
[ Still grinning, rolling with the punches. ]
I meant like, you might be surprised by what you wind up really liking once you see yourself in it.

[ She stops her sifting for a moment, pausing on a blue dress and pulling it from the rack. The cut of it is cute, cinched at the waist a full, flowy bottom and v shaped neck line. But when she holds it up to her body... ]
Does this clash? Um, with my skin I mean.
[ Baby blue on light greeny-blue is probably a poor choice, right?]
no subject
I like what's happening here, but-
[ This is the first style-related question that has given him pause, his brow furrowing somewhat. Hailing from a world of neutral skin tones, it's certainly not something he's ever had to think about... ]
I'm... not sure, but clash is a strong word. [ It blends would maybe be closer to the truth? ] I guess... [ ??? ] we should make sure what you're wearing is a different enough color that people can tell it's a dress, and that you're not like... streaking.
[ With a last critical look at the blue dress, he joins her in sifting through the rack, since a lot of the time there'll usually be a... bingo! The same item in an alternate color, though this one is unfortunately that pale, pale sort of yellow that's reminiscent of baby chickens. ]
When you said no yellow, did you mean every shade?
no subject
Oh...that is considerably worse than clashing.
[ But before she can continue looking herself, Steve has found the dress in an alternate shade and...she hates being difficult. ]
I...there's nothing wrong with yellow-
[ Yellow is Jacks signature colour, and being considered an extension of Jack for so long meant it had to be her colour too, regardless of her feelings. Wearing it makes her feel some kind of way, like she's branded.
It's stupid. ]
It's fine. I can try that one on.
no subject
You sure? You're allowed to hate a color. [ Very tentatively, he folds it over his arm. ] For me, it's orange. Traffic cone orange-orange.
[ He intends for the maybe pile to get much bigger, anyway, as sooner rather than later he's holding up something else for her inspection, with no comment other than a cheeky smirk.
It's got lace.
The dress, not the smirk. ]
no subject
[ Quick to placate, wipe any discomfort from her face or body language. She's lucky enough to be getting the help, she has no right to be too picky.
She busies herself with browsing through the rack again before he's holding up another dress. And this one- this one
White with lace in a delicate floral design. It's almost a little too on the nose, but it has Angel's eyes lighting up. ]
Oh.
no subject
[ Nothing about his expression says he's against playing up a theme.
In fact, if he looked smug before, he looks even smugger now upon seeing her reaction. Just for an even better idea of how well both sets of flowers are going to look in tandem, he takes a step closer, holding the hanger level with her collarbones. ]
We might already have ourselves a winner.
no subject
I think you may be onto something. You really are a fashion guru.
[ She reaches out, gingerly taking the dress from Steve by the hanger. ]
Sorry, I don't think you'll be getting your fashion show if I try this one on first.
no subject
Shame.
[ He taps his chin. ]
Then again, you'd still need shoes to match, and... a hair accessory? Some girls like to coordinate those.
no subject
But man, she hadn't even though of shoes! So her compliment is still pretty genuine, Steve knows what he's doing. ]
I hadn't considered that, I guess we should head to the shoe section next.
no subject
I'm a little worried you could twist an ankle, so I'm gonna say no heels just yet... Unless you're dying to try them, then maybe- [ He holds his fingers just barely apart. ] this much heel.
no subject
She turns, dress in hand, and immediately heads towards the large sign hanging from the ceiling that reads "women's shoes" ]
How do you know I didn't spend all my time indoors practicing how to walk in stilettos?
no subject
[ Steve chirrups, eyebrows raised but nonetheless looking willing to consider the possibility. As they approach the shoe display, artfully arranged on platforms against the wall, he finds the tallest pair in sight, glancing between them and Angel. Can he see any trepidation in her eyes? ]
If that's what you guys do, it would explain a lot. Always thought these things looked like they'd require a training montage.
[ Yes, that was a collective 'you guys' referring to all girls, sorry. ]
no subject
But...uh oh, he is calling her bluff, and she is physically incapable of being a sensible, self assured person who knows their limits and can voice them in spite of earlier claims.
So she just reaches her hand out, indicating that she would like the shoes please, she is totally going to put them on and walk in them and be fine. ]
